Darius Thompson completes his signing with Valencia Basket

American point guard with an Italian passport, Darius Thompson (1.93m, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 05/04/1995, 30 years old), is now officially a new Valencia Basket player for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2028, after completing his medical and physical examination, as well as cardiac and stress tests at Quirónsalud.

The new "taronja" player underwent his medical and stress tests on Wednesday at the Quirónsalud Medical Center in Mercado de Colón, overseen by Dr. Antonio Giner, and his cardiac tests at Quirónsalud Valencia Hospital with Dr. Catheline Lauwers, with all results being satisfactory.

Following the confirmation of his signing with our Club, Thompson traveled today to Italy to join the national team's training camp, as he has been called up to represent Italy in the upcoming EuroBasket 2025.

The player comes from Anadolu Efes Istanbul, where he averaged 9.5 points, 2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists for an 11.7 index rating in the EuroLeague last season. Thompson returns to the Liga Endesa, a competition he already knows from his time with Baskonia in the 2022-23 season, during which he was selected to the league’s Second Best Five. In addition to his proven playmaking abilities and defensive performance, last season was the best of his European career in three-point shooting, posting a 41.8% overall, which rose to 44.1% in the EuroLeague.
